Samir Passi is a social scientist with an interdisciplinary background in information science, AI, and STS, and a Data & Society affiliate. He works at the intersection of AI practice and research, engaging with AI practitioners to investigate the sociotechnical, organizational, and ethical aspects within AI development. He is a researcher at Kforce, through which he works as a researcher for Microsoft’s AI Ethics and Effects in Engineering and Research (AETHER) team. There, he focuses on the challenges and opportunities for responsible AI design and development.

Samir holds a PhD in information science from Cornell University, a research master in STS from Maastricht University, and an undergraduate degree in computer science from DAIICT.
