Keith Hiatt

Keith Hiatt is Vice President at Benetech, with direct responsibility for the Human Rights Program. Before joining Benetech, he was Director of the Technology Program at the Human Rights Center at UC Berkeley School of Law. Keith is also an Affiliate at the Data and Society Research Institute in NYC, a Research Fellow at the UC Berkeley Human Rights Center, and a member of the Technology Advisory Board of the International Criminal Court. Keith is an attorney and PhD Candidate in Jurisprudence and Social Policy at UC Berkeley. He graduated Order of the Coif from Berkeley Law in 2009, where he earned the Law and Technology Certificate, was a member of the executive board of boalt.org, and designed one of the first topical field exams for law and technology. After completing his law degree, Keith served as a judicial clerk with the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Prior to law school, he was an SDE/T at Microsoft, a database consultant for Puget Sound Energy, and a systems analyst at Boeing. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Washington in Seattle in 2004.
