Anil Dash

Anil Dash is the head of Glitch, the popular developer community where coders have collaborated to create and share millions of web apps; he was CEO of Glitch until its successful acquisition by Fastly in May 2022. Dash served as a founding member of Data & Society’s Board of Directors from 2013 to 2021.

Through his work as an entrepreneur, activist, and writer, Dash is recognized as a leading advocate for more humane, inclusive, and ethical technology, and was recognized with a Webby Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022. Dash served for a decade on the board of Stack Overflow, and today advises key startups and nonprofits including Medium, The Human Utility, DonorsChoose, and Project Include. He serves as a board member for the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the pioneering nonprofit organization defending digital privacy and expression; The Markup, the leading nonprofit investigative newsroom pushing for tech accountability, and the Lower East Side Girls Club, which serves girls and families in need in New York City.

During the Obama administration, Dash was an advisor to the White House Office of Digital Strategy. As a writer and artist, he has been a contributing editor and monthly columnist for Wired, written for publications like The Atlantic and Businessweek, and co-created one of the first implementations of the blockchain technology now known as NFTs.
